Gloucester Township Apartments Briefly Evacuated After Driver Crashes Into Them

BLACKWOOD, NJ (CBS) – Police in New Jersey say that a vehicle that crashed into the wall of an apartment building resulted in evacuations of some of the building's tenants.

On Tuesday morning just before 9:15 a.m., officers from the Gloucester Township Police Department responded to the O Building of the Autumn Ridge Apartments located on Little Gloucester Road in Blackwood after reports of a car into the side of the building.

Upon arrival, officers discovered that resident Ruth Marquez had accidentally driven her 2007 Cadillac over the curb and into the side of the complex, resulting gin a large breach in the exterior and interior walls of an unoccupied apartment that was under renovations.

Tenants were evacuated from the adjacent apartments until the structural integrity of the building could be determined, after which they returned home.

Marquez, the driver, was uninjured. Police issued her a summons for Careless Driving.
