PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – The iPhone 5 debuted in Apple stores Friday. Lines are expected to be long again Saturday.
KYW’s John McDevitt spoke with customers Friday who waited in line for several hours to be among the first to own the smartphone.
It took Adriano Martino almost 5 hours to get his new iPhone. He got in line around 8a.m. in Center City.
“The plan was to wake up around 5 and come here at 6 and when the alarm sounded this morning it didn’t make much sense to me. (laughs) So I came here at 8. I said ‘Oh there is a little line’ I keep walking, keep walking, keep walking, the line went up to 17th Street. There was a one block line.
He was supposed to be at work but luckily he owns his own business.
“Yes I’m kind of late. I’ll probably have to reschedule a couple of appointments,” Martino said.
Most say it cost more than $300 for their new smart phone.
