Claude Giroux And Scott Hartnell Are Growing Lockout Beards

By Spike Eskin

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) –  Hockey players are famous for growing playoff beards, but what happens when there is no hockey? Clearly the answer is "still grow beards."

Flyers stars Claude Giroux and Scott Hartnell announced via Twitter today that they're going to grow lockout beards.

@28CGiroux: Me and @Hartsy19 are growing out beards for the lockout.. Hopefully shave very soon!! #anyjoiners? RT if you're in!!!

Minutes later, teammate Matt Read agreed to do the same. https://twitter.com/MReader24/status/248447447939051520

The NHL lockout is just a few days old, but there are currently no talks scheduled, and many fans and players are preparing for the worst. The league lost the 2004-05 season due to a work stoppage, and many have speculated that this season could be lost as well.

You can lockout players from playing hockey, but you can't lockout them from growing beards. Take that, Bettman.
