PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – The Eagles have signed center Steve Vallos, and put Jason Kelce on injured reserve for the 2012 season, the team announced today.
Kelce suffered a completely torn MCL and a partially torn ACL in Sunday’s win over the Ravens. Eagles head trainer Rick Burkholder speculated on Monday that it was possible that Kelce could return to play in six weeks, depending on the severity of the tear to the ACL. Though results of today’s arthroscopic surgery have not been announced, the damage was enough to keep Kelce out for the year.
Vallos, who was with the Eagles during training camp, was drafted in the seventh round of the 2007 draft by the Seattle Seahawks. In five seasons with the Browns and Seahawks, he’s played in 40 games and started eight times.
Vallos will back up Dallas Reynolds, who filled in for Kelce on Sunday.
