PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – The seventh annual Unity in the Community Day Festival is taking place in the Logan section of Philadelphia today.
“A little praise, a little entertainment, a little haliluehia.”
Myke Davis is a deacon at Beloved St. John’s Evangelistic Church and one of the organizers of the festival. He says the purpose of the day is to give the community access to city services, while having a little fun.
“Anything from AARP services, Medicare, Medicaid, anything to do with family life, child abuse, homeless.”
The fun part is gospel entertainment, a 3-on-3 basketball tournament for young people, a outdoor Zumba class and more.
“We’re going to have the Philadelphia Zoo there for the youth. And the fire department will give a demonstration on its equipment.”
The festival goes from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday at 4541 North Broad Street.
