PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – The Food and Drug Administration announced a cheese recall because of possible Listeria contamination, and the product may have been sold in some area markets.
New York-based Forever Cheese Inc. is recalling its “Ricotta Salata Frescolina” brand cheeses because they may have been contaminated with Listeria. The FDA says there have been 14 reported illnesses in 11 states that may have been caused by the bacteria.
The products were sold to supermarkets, restaurants, and wholesale distributors between June 20th and August 9th.
According to the company’s web site, their products are sold at several Delaware Valley locations including Whole Foods and DiBruno Brothers, although the listed companies may or may not sell the affected product.
The lot number is T9425 and the production code is 441202.
The company says they have reached out to every distributor and retailer.
