Teen Killed In Shooting At Philadelphia Recreation Center

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – A teenager is dead after being shot at a Philadelphia rec center on Monday evening.

The 18-year-old victim was shot once in the chest in the playground area of the Cecil B. Moore Rec Center, located at 2600 N 22nd Street, at 5:50 p.m.

Police say his body was just a few feet from the playground where children were playing at the time.

Witnesses say there were about 25 people on the playground at the time of this incident. They described the shooter as a man in his 20s about 5'6" and 200 lbs. He was wearing a multi-colored sweater and multi-colored sneakers and was last seen fleeing on a bike on the 2200 block of West Huntington, not far from the playground.

Detectives are currently investigating the incident.
