EAST NORRITON, Pa. (CBS) – Einstein Healthcare Network’s brand new medical center in East Norriton in Montgomery County is being readied for opening day at the end of the month.
Einstein Healthcare Network chief operating officer Barry Freedman says the organization decided to make a more than $400 million investment in a new hospital because research showed there was a need.
“Sixty-percent of the residents in the central Montgomery region are outmigrating. That means they’re traveling distances of greater than 30 minutes to receive care at other institutions.”
Freedman says the new 146-bed hospital will have an advanced emergency department, robotic surgical suites and family-centered maternity care.
“We have a neo-natal ICU, Level 3, We will have advanced cardiac procedures done here.”
When it opens Sept. 29, employees and patients from Montgomery Hospital Medical Center will be transferred to the new facility and the older hospital located in Norristown will be closed.
