PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – Police are investigating a homicide that left a man dead in the Bella Vista section of South Philadelphia Tuesday morning.
Authorities say the shooting took place at about 5:50 a.m. near 12th and Bainbridge Streets. The victim, identified as 24-year-old Robert “Jay” McKee, was found in the middle of the street with a gunshot wound to the head.
McKee was a First Team All-Public basketball player for Southern High School whose nickname was “Elevator Man” due to his jumping ability.
Police say at this time they do not have a motive, suspects or any witnesses.
Further details were not immediately available.
