MIDDLE TOWNSHIP, NJ (CBS) – Police have confirmed that a body found floating off the coast of Wildwood on Sunday is in fact a missing Middle Township police officer.
Jason Sill, a 39-year-old officer from Cape May Court House, was deemed missing after U.S. Coast Guard members found his unoccupied boat floating one mile off of the Wildwood coast on Monday, Aug. 27th. Witnesses reported seeing Sill taking his boat out from Pier 47 Marina that morning around 9:30 a.m. to go fishing.
On Sunday, Sept. 2nd, the body of a deceased male was found floating about 6 miles off the coast of Wildwood. A tattoo located on it appeared to match the tattoo reported to be on Jason Sill.
The Southern Regional Medical Office transported the body to Shore Memorial Hospital, where an autopsy confirmed it was Sill. The cause of death is still being determined.
