PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – Labor Day 2012 is wrapping-up what turned out to be a decent season for businesses at the Jersey Shore.
Boardwalk merchants say Jersey Shore visitors are spending a little more over last year, but not much more. Debbie Landi, who manages the Shirt Shack on the Ocean City boardwalk says it’s been a decent summer, but not the best ever.
“We had pretty good weather, so that helped. And I would say it turned out to be a pretty good year.”
Down the boardwalk at the Ocean Paradise T-shirt shop, owner Denise Callahan says she did a little more business this summer over last year when Hurricane Irene interrupted the season.
“It’s going up. It’s not going down, so that’s good.” But she says in this economy, visitors are still careful about how they spend.
