Two Pedestrians Killed Crossing Highway In Rehoboth Beach

REHOBOTH BEACH, DE (CBS) – Delaware State Police were investigating a fatal accident in Rehoboth Beach early Sunday morning where two pedestrians were struck and killed.

Police say 33-year-old Scott Emory and 28-year-old Cheryl Dunn-Winchester were crossing Coastal Highway, near the intersection with John J. Williams Highway, shortly after 2 a.m. when they were struck by a Volkswagen Jetta.

Both victims were pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the car, 25-year-old Lisa Governa, stopped near the scene and was not injured.

State Police say the area of the crash is poorly lit, and both pedestrians were not walking in a crosswalk.

Investigators say alcohol is being considered as a factor in the crash, which closed the roadway for more than four hours.
