PHILADELPHIA (CBS) — Cradles to Crayons, a local non-profit that benefits homeless and low-income kids in the Delaware Valley, is teaming up with The Trolley Car family of restaurants for a “Ready for School” donation drive.
There are three Trolley Car sites: the Diner in Mount Airy; the Cafe in East Falls; and the Table Tennis Club in Roxborough. Cradles to Crayons Executive Director Michal Smith says all will serve as drop-off points for donations, and offer some treats to donors.
“The Trolley Car Diner collection will be running through to August the 26th,” she says. “And the Table Tennis Club will also be having an event August the 25th, and there’s also an event at the Trolley Car Cafe, and that is Sunday August the 26th.”

Donors are asked to bring new or nearly new children’s clothing in all sizes up to 14/16, and new school supplies.
“We’re basically encouraging people for items to get children ready for school,” Smith says. “But also some of our much-needed items — getting pants for older boys is always a challenge, and new socks and new underwear are always something that are needed.”
And the donated school supplies don’t need to be big or expensive.
“You can make a difference by bringing something as small as an eraser or a ruler,” Smith says.
