MARGATE, N. J. (CBS) - CBS 3 Meteorologist Kathy Orr is high above Margate’s beaches with a live broadcast from the top of Lucy The Elephant.
The 65-foot high wooden elephant was designed to attract visitors more than a century ago and to allow people to experience a spectacular view.
The wooden oddity was built in 1881 by a Philadelphia contractor. The cost was $38,000 which was quite an amount back then.
Kathy’s special guest Richard Helfant, the executive director of Lucy The Elephant, provides a history lesson about the world’s largest elephant.
We’ve set up a link with information on how you can tour this Margate landmark.
