Pa. State Rep. Hosting 'Treasure Hunt' For Unclaimed Property

By Hadas Kuznits

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - State Representative Ed Neilson is holding a so-called "Treasure Hunt" this week at his district office to help folks claim lost money that's just sitting in a state bank account.

Representative Ed Neilson is encouraging folks, especially those who live in the Far Northeast, to stop by his district office at 3256 Red Lion Road to see if they have money for them just waiting to get picked up.

"Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, we are attempting to put $11 million of unclaimed property back into the neighborhood's hands."

He says there are a lot of ways by which people forget about their money.

"They come from various different places. Some of it's banking, some of it's bills. Say you moved away and you had to put a deposit down with PECO or PGW and after you move, that deposit is still sitting there, you never got it back. That money sits in a fund that goes up to the state and they try and put it into the right hands."

You can also check your funds from any district online at PATreasury.gov.
