Police Investigating Delaware Shooting That Left Three Injured

NEWARK, Del. (CBS) – Delaware State Police are investigating a shooting that left three men injured early Friday afternoon.

According to authorities, the incident occurred at about 1:20 p.m. in the parking lot of Vince's Sports Center in Newark.

The incident began as a verbal altercation between a group of about eight men between the ages 18 and 22 years old and a male and female couple on the golf course area of the complex.

The altercation progressed into a physical confrontation between the group and the couple and moved to the rear parking lot, at the entrance to the golf course.

At that point, police say the male suspect produced a handgun and shot several rounds in the direction of the group, striking three men in the lower body. He and the female suspect then left the scene, driving eastbound on Route 4.

The victims and the remainder of the group left the area on foot before police arrived.

The three victims later visited a local hospital for treatment of non-life threatening gunshot wounds to the lower body.

Detectives are still investigating this incident and urge anyone with information to contact the Major Crimes Unit at 302-834-2630 ext. 228.
