CLAYMONT, Del. (CBS) - A 50-year-old man is in critical condition after being struck by a vehicle Friday night in New Castle County.

It happened at about 9:30 p.m. near Ridge Road and Virginia Avenue in Claymont.

Paramedics treated the victim for head, abdominal and extremity injuries while transporting him to Christiana Hospital.

Police have not released the identity of the man. The accident is under investigation.
