Body Of Missing New Jersey Swimmer Found

WINSLOW TOWNSHIP, NJ (CBS) – Police have recovered the body of the man who drowned in a quarry in Winslow Township on Thursday afternoon.

According to Winslow Township Police, the 37-year-old drowned at the Winslow Hot Mix Quarry in Piney Hollow Road.

Police first received a call a little after 3 p.m. about a man who was drowning. First arriving officers entered the water but failed to locate the victim who had gone underwater and never resurfaced.

Officers continued searching for the man with the aid of surrounding towns.

At about 6:50 p.m., New Jersey State Police and Malaga Dive teams located the victim in about 18 feet of water, 60 feet from the shore.

Authorities have not yet released the identity of the man.
