Unemployed Women Get Free Makeovers Thanks To Delco Stylist

By Hadas Kuznits

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- A local organization is helping unemployed women get makeovers for job interviews.

Under a tent on the sidewalk in front of the Omni Hotel, 4th and Chestnut Streets in Old City Philadelphia, Marc Voci, creator of Style Me Hired, held preview makeovers today in preparation for a larger event being held at the hotel on September 24th.

"I created a program three years ago to help women in this economy to gain hope and confidence," says Voci, whose salon is in Folsom, Pa.  "I've been doing hair for over 25 years -- makeovers are like magic!"

Voci says it really helps to feel good about how you look when you walk into an interview.

"It builds self-esteem, it builds self-confidence.   A lot of these women can't afford to come to the salons, so once they get their makeover, they get into an interview, they feel much better, and the confidence really shows," he says.

And he says the September 24th event won't just be a makeover session -- there will also be employers there waiting to interview potential job candidates.

"The women come here, have their hair blown out, a little bit of makeup, an interview suit from our other partner Career Wardrobe, which is a nonprofit, they're gonna be all set for this job fair!"

Those interested should sign up for the event.

"They can apply right at our web site, at www.stylemehired.com," advises Voci.
