PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – The development of so-called “digital dressing rooms” could change the future of shopping. Scientists say a new high-tech mirror that allows you to digitally try on clothes could be a reality in the next few years.
Folks say shopping has changed in the past few years, but even 21st century shopping has its drawbacks.
“I just ordered a bunch of clothes online and I had to send 90 percent of them back for a different size and it’s expensive with the shipping.”
But new technology that simulates how clothes and fabrics fit on various body types and sizes, could make shopping a little easier. Technology that would allow you to put an image of your body into an image of the clothes is still several years away, but some folks say they like the idea.
“I’m lazy, so anything I can do on the computer without having to go to the actual store is fine by me.”
Still, some folks aren’t sure they’ll be able to one day go 100 percent digital when it comes to shopping.
“As a girl who’s more particular about how clothes look, I don’t know that it would really work.”
