Preliminary Hearing For So-Called 'Black Madam' Postponed

By Jim Melwert

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- A preliminary hearing that was scheduled today for the woman who gained fame for illegally injecting women in the buttocks has been delayed.

Padge Winslowe is charged with last year's death of a 20-year-old British tourist who died shortly after the procedure.

That death from February 2011 gained international notoriety. And nearly a year and a half later, murder charges have been filed against Winslowe, also known as the "Black Madam."

She's charged with the death of Claudia Aderotimi, a British tourist who died not long after she had silicone injected into her rear end, in a hotel room near the Philadelphia International airport.

Winslowe, 43, is facing third-degree murder, conspiracy, and reckless endangerment charges.

Investigators say that, despite the death, Winslowe kept injecting women, including a Philadelphia woman who nearly died after the silicone travelled to her lungs.

Winslowe has already been charged with assault in that case.  She's been in jail since she was arrested in February of this year, picked up on her way to what's known as a "pumping party" in Germantown, where police say she was going to perform the procedure.

If convicted on the murder charges, Winslowe faces up to 88 years in prison.
