DOWNINGTOWN, Pa. (CBS) – Authorities are investigating the cause of a fire that broke out in a Chester County residence on Tuesday night.

The fire broke out at about 6 p.m. on the 1300 block of Westminster Drive in Downington. It was placed under control a short while later, but the home sustained quite a bit of damage.

HAZMAT crews were also called out to the scene for an unknown substance inside the home. Neighboring residents were advised to remain indoors until crews completed their investigation.

The Red Cross is assisting the three family members who lived in the home
