Man Drowns In Schuylkill River

PHILADELPHIA, PA (CBS) – Police have found the body of the man who fell and disappeared into the Schuylkill River early Monday evening.

At approximately 4:30 p.m., Philadelphia police were alerted of a man screaming for help in the Schuylkill River by the Walnut Street bridge.

Police say two observers jumped in and attempted to save the man, but to no avail. Police dive units were called to search the river.

At approximately 6:30 p.m. the man's body was found and pulled from the river. The man was pronounced dead by medics on the scene.

At this time, it is still unknown how the man fell into the river.
