Timber Creek Park To Get Disc Golf Course

By Mike Dougherty

GLOUCESTER TWP. (CBS) - Construction could begin any day now on a tournament quality, 18-hole disk golf course at Timber Creek Park in Gloucester Township, Camden County.

Timber Creek has plenty of room and the perfect layout for disk golf, according to Camden County freeholder Rodney Greco.

"Beautiful, pristine environment, 60 acres, it's wooded, it's natural," explains Greco.

He says residents gave him the idea to build it.

"They explained to me that they actually go to Fairmount Park in Philadelphia," Greco says.

After working out the details with other politicians, Greco hired a construction company to complete the $18,000 project.

"The financial investment in this project is relatively small for an extreme great benefit of bringing people to our parks," says Greco.

Best of all, it won't cost you a penny to give the game a try if you already have a Frisbee.

"I'm looking forward to trying myself. I don't play golf, but you don't need to be a golfer to enjoy this," Greco says.

The course should open sometime this fall.
