PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – Philadelphia police are on the hunt for a suspect after a robbery in West Philadelphia on Friday morning in which a 66-year-old woman was badly beaten.
In happened just before 9 a.m. in the 5700 block of Cherry Street when officers arrived, they found the woman lying on the sidewalk, severely beaten but still conscious. She told them that a man had grabbed and punched her, demanding money.
The victim was taken to the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania, where she was treated for several broken bones in her face.
Her assailant made off with a small purse containing cigarettes and an ATM card, but no cash. The victim says he was wearing a dark hooded sweatshirt, dark green t-shirt, tan cargo shorts, and black sneakers when he attacked her.
