Michael Vick On Demetress Bell: 'I Believe In Him'

By Ed Benkin

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – It is another day of workouts for the Eagles at Lehigh.

The offensive line has four of five starters returning.  The lone newcomer is free agent acquisition Demetress Bell, who is taking the place of the injured Jason Peters at left tackle.  Bell believes he is beginning to settle in with the rest of his line-mates at training camp:

"It's my job to come in and bond with these guys and get the play-calling," said Bell.  "Once we get up to the line and communicate, it shouldn't be a problem."

Michael Vick believes Bell will do well despite having to have to take the place of one of the best offensive lineman in football.

"I believe in him," said Vick.  "Throughout my entire career regardless of the status of the line, anybody that lines up in front of me, I believe I can get it done.  I just praise the guys and give them confidence and believe in them. It's just natural for me so I just let them get better week in and week out and they can work on their games as individuals."

Center Jason Kelce believes the offensive line will be strong this season.  He also thinks playing against the Eagles defensive front in practice will make the line a better unit by the time the regular season arrives.

"We're going up against one of the best defensive lines in the NFL every single day," Kelce said.  "You get a little frustrated when you get beat here and there, but you realize the guy you're going against across from you is pretty good.  It's good that not only our offense is good but our defense is good enough to where we are going back and forth and we really are competing with each other."

The Eagles will have an off-day on Tuesday and resume workouts on Wednesday.
