PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – A suspect remains hospitalized after being shot by Philadelphia police officers early Wednesday morning.
The incident happened shortly after midnight near the intersection of N. 56 Street and Arch Street in West Philadelphia.
According to investigators, officers were forced to shoot the 20-year-old suspect following a chase.
The unidentified suspect was taken to the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania where he is listed in stable condition.
No officers were injured in the incident.
It was not immediately known why the officers were pursuing the suspect in the first place. Police sources say detectives were searching for a gun that allegedly belonged to the suspect.
The shooting remains under investigation.
