BLOG: Ford, Honda, Acura Recall 2012/13 Vehicles

By Jim Donovan: There are a few big auto recalls that I wanted to let you know about today.

First up, Ford is recalling 11,500 small SUVs because the fuel lines can crack and leak allowing the engine to catch fire. The recall involves 2013 model year Ford Escape vehicles equipped with 1.6 liter engines. Ford is telling owners of the vehicles NOT to drive them and to contact a Ford dealer for immediate repair.

The vehicles were built from early April through July 11. But Ford says fewer than 5,000 have been sold to customers, the rest are still on dealer lots and will be fixed before they're sold.

Meanwhile, Honda is recalling more than 321,000 small SUVs and cars worldwide because the doors may not close.

The recall affects 166,600 2012 model year CR-V's and 6,200 2013 model year Acura ILX's. According to Honda, "simultaneous operation of the driver's or passenger's inner door handle and either the manual or power door lock may result in the inner door handle release cable becoming partially disengaged." Honda says that owners will start getting letters about the recall in August so that they can schedule a free inspection and if needed, repair.
