By Hadas Kuznits

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- The sixth annual "Ultimate Philadelphia Ice Cream Festival" takes place this weekend at Reading Terminal Market.

Michael Strange, owner of  Bassett's Ice Cream Company, says the festival will be a celebration of ice cream and other frozen desserts.

"We have demonstrations and presentations.  We have ice cream eating contests, ice cream shuffleboard, ice cream juggling," he tells KYW Newsradio.

This year's theme is the history of frozen desserts.

"I will be doing a demonstration on ice cream mold making," Strange says.  "We'll talk about the history of water ice."

Does Philadelphia have a big stake in the history of ice cream?  Strange says yes.

"Philadelphia used to be known as the ice cream capital of the world!  Breyer's started here, Abbott's, Dolly Madison, Sealtest, and of course Bassett's."

The festival takes place Saturday from 10am to 4pm.
