PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – A business consultant says the key to keeping your job can also help around the house.
Too many people are in “victim mode” blaming others and finding excuses for every little thing says Mark Samuel.
In Making Yourself Indispensable, he urges people to do a 180 by harnessing the power of personal accountability, which is more than admitting if you foul up, but taking charge so things don’t go wrong.
Samuel admits that maybe some jobs are not so fertile for growth but, “Do you add positive energy to what you’re doing? Do it the best you can. And, yeah, maybe that’s not where your bliss comes from because maybe you’ve got a family, and then be indispensable for your family, and do that with that same level of care and value. That’s what going to make you happy at the end of the day.”
Samuel says, when times were tough, he volunteered his services at non-profit groups, just to remain active, viable and, yes, accountable.
