DENVER (AP) — The Philadelphia Phillies have placed left-hander Raul Valdes on the 15-day disabled list because of a right hip strain.
The Phillies recalled lefty Joe Savery from Triple-A Lehigh Valley on Friday to take his place on the roster.
Valdes was 2-2 with a 3.80 ERA in 16 appearances, including one start over 21 1-3 innings this season. The team said the move was retroactive to Monday.
Savery was with the Phillies earlier this season, going 0-2 with a 5.87 ERA in 17 games.
