PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - Police say an elderly woman was beaten unconscious during a home invasion in the city’s Rhawnhurst section early Wednesday morning.

According to investigators, an intruder entered the woman’s home in the Meadowview Apartments along the 8600 block of Algon Avenue at about 1 a.m.

The bed-ridden victim used an alert necklace to call for help from police. Paramedics rushed her to Aria Torresdale Hospital for cuts to her head and a possible broken eye socket. She was listed in stable condition.

Investigators say the suspect ransacked the apartment and authorities believe he may have been looking for drug medication.

Police have no suspects and are investigating.
