PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – A NJ Senator held his first Twitter Town Hall web chat Monday afternoon.
Following in the footsteps of President Obama, politicians are increasingly using social media to connect with voters. Senator Jim Whelan on Monday held his first digital meeting live via uStream, an interactive broadcast platform.
“There’s an awful lot of people for whom Twitter is their communication method of choice. If you were to say to them send a letter to your legislature or make a phone call, that’s not what they do, they use Twitter.”
For 60 minutes Senator Whelan answered a variety of questions from the budget, virtual charter schools, real estate development to his future political aspirations and a superhero for New Jersey.
“A superhero geez I don’t know. Bruce Springsteen would be my superhero for NJ.”
The video of the Twitter town hall will be available on Senate Democrat’s uStream and YouTube accounts.
