PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – Unemployment among teens age 16 to 19 is about 25 percent nationwide. One local non-profit is hoping to change that through a workforce development program for teen girls.

“This is the worst job market for teens since World War II,” says Author Cheryl Ann Wadlington of The DivaGirl’s Guide to Style and Self-Respect.

She is the founder of Evoluer House; an organization that hosts programming to empower young women and says 20 girls, ages 13 to 18, will get eight weeks of much needed work training and development.

“We’re preparing them to be able to eventually qualify to be top contenders in their field. They’ll be learning things about value-based decision making, financial literacy, dressing for success, time management- all the things they’ll need to land a good job and to keep it.”

Some of the sessions will consist of tutorials from local celebrities, including a former contestant on Project Runway. The camp kicks off July 10th. For more information, go to www.evoluerhouse.org.
