Delaware Man Pulled Over For Registration Violation Now Faces Drug Charges

NEWARK, Del. (CBS) – A Delaware man who was pulled over for a vehicle registration violation is now facing drug charges.

On Thursday, July 5th at 10:50 p.m., a New Castle County police officer was patrolling the area of Phyllis Drive and Darwin Drive in New Castle when he spotted a vehicle with a registration violation. The officer pulled the driver over and identified him as Ralph Lloyd, a 33-year-old from Newark.

The officer discovered that Lloyd didn't have his license, nor could he provide registration and insurance info for the vehicle. Lloyd was also found to be in possession of a significant amount of cash and a prescription drug bottle that contained prescription medication.

A search of Lloyd's vehicle revealed two more pill bottles full of Oxycodone and Opana pills that were hidden underneath the driver's seat and nearly $500 of suspected drug money.

Ralph Lloyd has been charged with drug possession, driving while suspended, failure to have insurance and other related offenses.
