PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - CBS 3 and the National Constitution Center have teamed up on a half-hour special commemorating the 225th anniversary of the signing of the U.S. Constitution.

Chris May and Susan Barnett host We The People: The Constitution's 225th this Sunday, July 1st, 11:30 a.m. on CBS 3. The program will also air July 4th, 7:30 p.m. and July 21st at 5:30 p.m. on CBS 3.

The program takes a look at the lesser-known moments and behind-the-scenes players at the Constitutional Convention in 1787. May and Barnett also introduce viewers to a number of individuals for whom the Constitution has played a critical role.

Features include a discussion with Constitutional history expert and National Constitution Center Board member Dr. Richard Beeman who talks about the negotiations that led to the final document; a tour of the National Constitution Center; a visit by CBS 3's Natasha Brown to a high school where the curriculum has been built around the Constitution, and a pop quiz on the Citizenship test by CBS 3's Erika Von Tiehl.

Most significant is a look at the Constitution's ability to be redefined as society changes through the use of Amendments. The special looks at how current issues, such the definition of marriage, might play out in future amendments.

We The People: The Constitution's 225th will have encore broadcasts this summer. In addition, CBS stations across the country will air the special in their markets. The program was produced by Evan Hirsch.
