PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – A study by the Natural Resources Defense Council gave Dewey Beach in Delaware a five star rating.
The Natural Resources Defense Council (NRDC) study rated 200 of the U.S.’s popular beaches.
The criteria used to rate each beach includes how often the water is tested, how quick the public is notified about bacteria levels, and how posting and advisories are handled.
The 2011 study gave 12 beaches five star ratings. Of the 12 beaches, one was from Delaware, Dewey Beach, while no New Jersey beaches were included.
