PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – Police are investigating the robbery and shooting of a man in West Philadelphia early Wednesday morning.

The shooting happened at about 12:30 a.m. in the 500 block of 38th Street in the city’s Mantua section.

According to investigators, an unidentified male was walking down the street with a female when a dark SUV pulled up next to them.

Authorities say several suspects jumped out of the SUV and robbed both victims. During the robbery, one of the suspects shot the male victim in the back.

The victim was taken to the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania where he is listed in stable condition.

Investigators say a cell phone that was found at the scene may belong to one of the suspects.

So far, no arrests have been made. Anyone with information is urged to contact police.
