Police Searching For Philadelphia Robbery Suspect

By Elizabeth Hur

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – Philadelphia police are searching for a suspect in connection to a robbery on G Street.

On Monday, June 4th at about 1:40 p.m., Gererosa Lopez says he was robbed inside the ALDI's Supermarket in the 4100 block of G Street.

Reportedly, the suspect took $3,000 in cash from the Lopez's back pocket and fled the supermarket in an unknown direction. That money, Lopez says, was his life savings that he planned to give to his granddaughter for her graduation.

"That's my life savings. I need that money to help my granddaughter and you took it away from me. That's very cruel," said Lopez.

The suspect has been described as a black male, age 25, who was wearing a blue Adidas track jacket and pant set with white stripes and tan boots.

Lopez hopes anyone who recognizes the suspect does the right thing. He says he doesn't want anyone else to fall victim to such a heartless crime.

"I'm 73-years-old, I don't know how I'm going to get the money back. It wasn't easy to get it either. Life-time savings," he said.

Police are asking anyone with information to contact the East Detective Division at 215-685-3243 or 3244.

Tips can be submitted at 215-686-TIPS (8477) or through text at PPD TIP (773847).
