PHILADELPHIA (CBS) — There were some tense moments for Cheyney University students on Thursday morning after a student made threats against the school through social media.
Classes continued as normal after a disgruntled student posted a message on Twitter threatening a “Columbine and Virginia Tech” style massacre at the school.
University public relations officer Pam Carter says they know who did it, but they don’t know why.
“We have been in contact with the student,” Carter says. “We are bringing him on campus and speaking with him to find a resolution, understand his concern.”
Carter says they feel confident that students are safe on campus.
Reports that the university was on lockdown were unfounded, but Cheyney did tell students about the threat on their Facebook page and notified authorities.
