By Bill Wine

PHILADELPHIA (CBS)Europe’s Most Wanted animated characters were in the weekend’s most wanted movie.

The animated threequel, Madagascar 3: Europe’s Most Wanted, finished first at the box office, earning an estimated $60-million on its debut weekend.

Prometheus, the new science fiction thriller from Alien director Ridley Scott, was a strong second.  It took in $50-million.

That dropped last weekend’s ticket-selling leader, Snow White and the Huntsman, to third with $23-million, and the sequel, Men in Black 3, to fourth with $14-million.

Rounding out the top five was the holdover blockbuster, The Avengers, with $11-million, bringing its staggering cumulative take over the $570-million mark and making it the third-highest-grossing movie of all time, behind only Avatar and Titanic.
