PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - There is disturbing new research which finds teens are using the internet to buy alcohol.
According to the report, verifying underage buyers failed almost half the time making it easy to obtain alcohol.
One of the problems is that some of the efforts to get this information is poor. Some websites only require that a person enter a date of birth with no way to verify it if someone was lying about their age.
You might be wondering what happens on delivery. According to the study those making deliveries only verify the buyer’s age half of time because no one requested identification.
The study reported that out of 100 underage purchases of alcohol online, 45 attempts were successful.
