New Service Allows Anyone To Have A Private Driver

By Ian Bush

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - There's a new service in Philly that aims to make ordering private car service easier than hailing a cab.

It's a smartphone app called Uber:

"You push a button, and in five minutes a Town Car appears."

Or an Escalade, a Mercedes...

"It's that kind of service. You want to have a good date night, maybe you've got a business client in town or you're trying to make a sale or a meeting."

Uber CEO and co-founder Travis Kalanick says they're bringing the 'private driver' experience to the masses:

"You get to your destination, and you just walk out of the car.  Tip is included -- we have your credit card on file."

They partner with local limo companies, who benefit by earning coin during driver downtime.

Uber is for Android and iPhone but there's also text and mobile web access -- at m.uber.com -- for ordering a car.
