Lesley's Last Word: Devil Of A Time Rooting For Kings
By Lesley Van Arsdall,
To be totally honest, I knew this was coming and I don't know why I'm not okay with it.
The Los Angeles Kings are now in the Stanley Cup finals. People call them "Flyers West." I really don't know why this bothers me so much.
I like John Stevens, Simon Gagne and Ron Hextall who works in the front office. I have no reason to dislike Justin Williams. He hasn't worn the orange and black sweater since 2004. I don't have a problem with Mike Richards or Jeff Carter either. Neither Richards nor Carter asked to be traded.
True, Richards and Carter were not able to help bring the Stanley Cup back to Philadelphia, but they have something in Los Angeles that they never really had during their tenure with the Flyers...a stellar goaltender between the pipes.
I guess I don't want people second guessing the moves the Flyers made last offseason. I think the team is great. Wayne Simmonds and Brayden Schenn are great additions.
Still, the Kings are playing right now and the Flyers are not.
I hate to say it, but I might have to root for the Devils.
Nah!! There's always next year. Hey, they might be calling the Flyers "Kings East" by then.
