Philadelphia Mother Accused Of Murdering Twin Babies Held Without Bail

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - Authorities say 41 year old Stacey Smalls is being held without bail Tuesday morning for the alleged murders of her twin babies and the attempted murder of her young daughter.

Authorities believe on May 24, 2012, Smalls killed her twins, a boy and a girl, and tried to kill her four-year-old daughter and herself because she suspected her husband was having an affair with another family member (see related story).

According to police, Smalls told arriving officers she had harmed her children. The babies were found dead upstairs, and investigators say there were notes suggesting she wanted her husband to feel her pain.

Her husband found the children when he came home from work and called 911.

The four-year-old was allegedly forced to consume pills and was hospitalized.

Smalls was also hospitalized after she tried to take her own life.

Smalls was released from the hospital over the holiday weekend and remains held without bail on Murder, Attempted Murder, Aggravated Assault, Endangering the Welfare of a Child and REAP charges.

A preliminary hearing has been scheduled for June 13th.
