GLOUCESTER COUNTY (CBS) - A large crowd gathered at the Gloucester County Veterans Cemetery to mark Memorial Day and to honor America’s defenders, both past and present.
“This is our little Arlington, right here in Gloucester County.”
The sprawling grounds at the cemetery are immaculately kept. Freeholder Joe Chila helped get this cemetery up and running five years ago says he’s proud to see such a big turnout.
“And it’s just an honor to give back a little bit to those who gave everything.”
Vietnam Veteran Chuck Byers believes events like this one are important because it gives love to the men and women fighting in unpopular conflicts
“Maybe we don’t always support the war, but we always support the veteran that served because freedom isn’t free.”
And the ceremony recognized Alessandro Plutino of Pitman and Ryan Iannelli of East Greenwich, two young men who were killed in action this year.
