Pedestrian Seriously Injured After Hit-Run In Delaware

NEWARK, Del. (AP) — Police in Delaware are investigating a hit-and-run crash in Newark that seriously injured a pedestrian.

Police say the crash happened at 1:18 a.m. Saturday when the woman and her boyfriend were working on her car, which may have been having a mechanical issue. Police say 24-year-old Evelyn Vilchez of Newark was standing alongside her car on Old Baltimore Pike when her boyfriend, Emmanuel Gonzalez, noticed a silver Jeep traveling in their direction. Gonzalez attempted to pull Vilchez out of the way, but the Jeep hit her car and then her. The Jeep then continued without stopping.

Vilchez was transported to the hospital with serious injuries. Gonzalez was unharmed.

Police are looking for the silver Jeep.
