Christina River Bridge Crash Sends 5 To Hospital

WILMINGTON, Del. (AP) - Delaware police say a two car crash on Wilmington's Christina River Bridge sent five people to the hospital.

The crash happened Friday at around 7 p.m. Police say the driver of a 1999 BMW sedan struck an object in the roadway and slowed down. A driver traveling behind the BMW was unable to get out of the way and struck the car.

The driver of the BMW, his wife, and their 5-year-old daughter were taken to the hospital and treated, but their injuries were not life-threatening. A 9-year-old son who was also in the vehicle was not injured.

The driver, Mark Monteith of Philadelphia, was cited for impeding the flow of traffic.

The other driver and his 10-year-old son were also taken to the hospital and treated for non-life-threatening injuries.
