PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – High school seniors at Philadelphia’s Science Leadership Academy will be getting a special visitor around the time of graduation.

When commencement at Philadelphia’s Science Leadership Academy was moved from June 12th to June 11th, word at the school was that the change was made to accommodate President Barack Obama.

“I didn’t believe it at first and I was like, look it’s on a website!”

“Everybody was on Twitter.”

Reporter: “Word got out fast?”

“Yep.  Everybody was like, ‘Obama’s coming!'”

Reporter: “Who told you guys?”

“Somebody that works at the Franklin Institute.”

School administrators and those at the Franklin Institute were mum on the topic, but Fernando Gallard, spokesperson for the School District of Philadelphia confirmed the scheduled visit.

“What we know right now is there’s this very exciting opportunity for our seniors from the science leadership academy to meet the President.  We do know that this is going to happen June 12th at the Franklin Institute.”

“I actually had a bunch of seniors at my house,” says parent Rachel Martin. “I don’t think they’re going to get to shake his hand, but they’re going to be in the same room.”

Senior Kyree Armstrong says this will certainly be a highlight in his high school career:

“I think it’s pretty cool. The President of the United States coming to this little school in the middle of Center City.”
