Man Struck, Killed By Amtrak Train In Delaware

CLAYMONT, Del. (AP) — Delaware State Police say a man struck by an Amtrak train in Claymont has died.

The person was truck Thursday afternoon by an eight-car train about a half-mile north of the Claymont train station. Police say the engineer of the train blew the horn and hit the emergency brake but was unable to stop in time.

The victim's name has not been released and his body has been turned over to the chief medical examiner's office for an autopsy.

Authorities say roughly 400 people were on the train, but no passengers or crew members were injured.
